This summer I went to the most beautiful parts of South Carolina for 2 weeks. I visited cities and small towns, beaches and boardwalks. I had loads of fun and my two weeks in SC were some of the best two weeks of my life. From the exquisite horse racing training tracks in Aiken, to the natural beauty of Beaufort, my South Carolina Vacation was a trip to remember. Here is everything I did during my 2 weeks in the south!
The first day we arrived in South Carolina, we landed in Charleston. Charleston is known for its historical architecture and history. If I had to describe Charleston, I would say it is a mix of New Orleans and New York. It is great for tourists like me, and had tons of things to do. We stayed in the historical Francis Marion Hotel for two days. In Charleston we were constantly on-the-go, with little to no downtime. On the first day we ate at an adorable restaurant called Magnolias. They had the best southern food! We also ate at the so called "haunted" Poogan's Porch and many quaint ice cream shops. We toured the busy city by foot from sunrise to sunset. I highly recommend visiting this beautiful city if you happen to stop by in South Carolina.
After staying in Charleston for 2 days we made the long car ride to Aiken. Aiken was by far my favorite destination. It is your typical cozy, relaxed, small town with lots of equestrian history. Aiken is known for its horse racing and we visited lots of tracks. In Aiken we stayed in an Air BnB with horses on the property. The horses were all so cute and we got to pet and groom them. In Aiken we visited a lot of horse towns, went to the historical Wilcox Hotel, went on a trail ride in the Hitchcock Woods, rode on the beach where Forest Gump was filmed, visited a horse rescue, and did a lot more. We ate at lots of adorable restaurants like Betsy's Round the Corner (aka the cutest old-fashioned diner ever), enjoyed delicious ice cream from Sweet Shoppes, and had to hit up their Cracker Barrel. It was very sad leaving Aiken but we knew we still had stunning Hilton Head Island to look forward too!
Our final stop was the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort and Spa. It was the perfect way to end a great vacation. Hilton head was absolutely gorgeous. It had probably one of the most beautiful beaches we had ever seen. The water was clear and the shops were charming. The hotel was so nice and had great food. We loved waking up early to go eat at the breakfast buffet, and then taking a nice relaxing bike ride along the beach.
From what I have described so far, I bet all of you are wishing you could be in South Carolina right now. I know I am! I am so lucky to be able to have gone on this exciting vacation and if you are planning on traveling to South Carolina please, bring me along with you! Stay tuned for lots of show updates and cozy fall posts. xx The Desert Rider
